Northern Cafe

They have a great beef soup with vegetables. I don't eat noodles, bread, etc. The pig ears are also delicious. The place is clean.

Freshly handmade pulled noodles with the wonderful texture and taste that follows. Good soup broth, and good portion sizes and prices. The XLB were pretty good too, but I would avoid them if you're allergic to peanuts - I have a small suspicion they contain peanut oil (or maybe butter to seal the top? They do look a little different). Noodle soup is definitely the way to go here.

Beef noodle soup was very good though not too much beef and no veggies. The broth was however delicious and noodles very al dente. The "standard noodles" are long, medium width hand cut noodles which they make in house. Also had the Chongqing fried chicken was very flavourful though not as spicy as other places it. The green onion pancakes could have used more salt but had good texture and thinness plus were tasted very authentic to the homemade variety.

I have been there few times and each time, the food did not disappoint. Noodles are hand made and cut there. Fresh dumplings are cooked to order. Every dish I've had has wonderful flavors.
The only gripe? The servers are not friendly and very brash. It's difficult to get a smile even. It almost seems like they are avoiding you.
So, just go for the food!

We had some questions about the menu and our server was very kind to answer them for us and make some suggestions. He suggested we order the more traditional northern China cuisine and he was right! It was fantastic. He helped is pick dumplings for our daughter which were phenomenal. Excellent restaurant! Will definitely be coming back even though it is far from where we live.
