It used be a good place for Japanese Udon before. After changing new ownership with new name, Tanuki no sato there were some downsides which were big.

Before I visited this place I expected a lot b/c Heard that a kid of the original owner of Sanuki no sato took its ownership and management. But it is very disappointed.

Taste and quality of food were worse. We ordered chicken karaage (similar to fried chicken). It was just over-cooked fried chicken. The soup base of udon was too much artificial flavors. The only thing I satisfied was the quality of noodle.

Service was more terrible. Its way far below than average. We got our orders after 50 minutes we ordered without any proper explanation.

I missed Sanuki No Sato a lot. Some of my friends in Paris and New York might think no more LA for udon.

Will visit this restaurant again soon then update my review...

Updated: i visited this restaurant again. They changed a lot. Worthy to try it.

Oishii!!! Delicious udon will await you. Japanese traditional atmosphere is really good. I’m a very picky and strict guy about udon but here promises the taste of genuine sanuki udon. (Especially soup is awesome!)
I highly recommend to come here and have udon and tempura. You’ll have a good time. Trust me.
    Meshiagare (Bon Appetit).

Sushi chef, Yukihiro, is incredible and kind. Extremely knowledgeable and gifted.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is tranquil, mellow, upper middle class with actual Japanese tradition like you'll find in Japan fine dining. The food is delicious and authentic. The service is attentive and lovely by the servers.

Clean and authentic Japanese food. When you walk in they are very hospitable. The place is considered to be an all around restaurant that serves a variety of foods and drinks (think Japanese Pub). So not actually specializing in anything but rather an item. Such as the spicy roe.

I have been here a handful of times and have never experienced bad service.

Each time I order the Fatty Tuna over rice bowl It comes out very visually appealing. With a slightly cool tuna temperature sitting a top a mountain of warm rice. A small leaf to complement. You may add wasabi, soy and red pepper to taste. I enjoy this thoroughly and use this as an opener when I eat here.

Soft shell crab is succulent and crispy. But very small. So portion to $$ is not equal. Quality is good.

Chicken Karaage is good. It is very basic here. There are better places for this. Try Tokyo Central on Artesia in Torrance. There is a Karaage restaurant inside dedicated to only Karaage.

Shishito Peppers. You can't really mess this up unless you burn them. So they are great here but also cost $$.

Udon with Beef is good and filling with tempura. Smooth broth finish and well cooked noodles. Though they are the frozen type. So If you want nothing but fresh udon noodles that are hand made. Head to Marugame in Santa Monica.

While this place is great for a once in a while meal. It's lacks that wow factor that forces you to crave coming back. Rather it makes you feel like your still hungry after you're done and want to get down and dirty with some Ramen down the street at Shen Sen Gume.

This is a great date idea if you're into Japanese cuisine at it's most basic level.

    Enjoy and Stay Wild!

Authentic Japanese food and you'll fall in love with this place the moment you walk in. Their hot pot was huge and tasty with fresh ingredients and their noodles are one of the best (the folks here said it's imported from Japan). All the food here are created and presented Michellin Star quality but you can expect a bit of a wait for their perfection.

Their Uni is on the expensive side as it's (according to them) imported from Japan. It does have a unique taste but the local Uni is just as good.

Plenty of parking as it's inside a strip mall that has other restaurants here but looking on the wall there' s quite a bit of famous folks that dined here.
