Great food! Meet is very good so is the rice. Land chop was well done, unfortunate... Service was inadequate and rice pudding not great. Food more then than makes up for other shortcomings...

God's Gift: The food is simple, generous, and dependable. Further, it is inexpensive. Loved it here for 30 years.

Well I wish, but a meal here puts me into a island mood. It's easy to sit down and feel right at home. The casual cafe atmosphere just feels relaxed and removed from everything in the city. Though I have been going here for several decades, the tried and true Elena's never changes. The pork chops were juicy and so tasty and so much to eat I took home a bag intended for lunch. The lentil soup was wonderful. And I do not really like bean soup. But the magic that they work in their tiny kitchen would make Harry Potter proud. In prior visits the service has been slow. I am cool with that, but the other night it was very speedy and full of smiles. The portions are gut fulling and the price, well dinner for two about thirty two total. When you compare this to some fake food from a fast food chain and you have a real no brainier. To those who aren't quite sure that you would like this I challenge you to try it once. I believe you will return again to my private island.

This is a very nice, inexpensive family owned neighborhood Armenian restaurant. We've been coming here since it was being run by the current owner's mother, who has long since retired. My daughter practically grew up here. She loves the quail and wanted to come here for her 13th birthday. When I told the owner's wife that my daughter had picked Elena's for her birthday dinner, she announced to the entire restaurant that it was my daughter's birthday and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to her! We've since moved to Florida, but we always come back to Elena's every time we visit LA.

As always, consistently delicious Greek/ Armenian cuisine. The lentil soup that comes with most meals is always a hit; warm, savory and filling, perfect for a cold day or any time.
Ive tried their chicken, beef shishkabob and lulu all tender and perfectly cooked. This time I tried their lamb which was firm and aptly spiced.
    Service is friendly and homey.
Scarce street parking only. Many park at Kebab Way across the street.
