We found out the Sho Fujimoto exhibit was closing out tomorrow so we made our way to check the exhibit out this weekend.

The exhibit was showcased as part of the Japan House LA collaboration. The doors to Japan House on the 2d floor open exactly at 10am and give room to window shopping before moving on to the exhibition area.

I like the concept of bringing various arts from Japanese artists and hosting them in a centralized location to showcase. I will warn items are over priced so be prepared to have some sticker shock and have some reservations over buying something. You’ll more than likely be able to purchase the same items through e-commerce for a lower price. The project is backed by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs so I’m pretty sure we’ll continue to see the site host future exhibits.

Aside from the price we really enjoyed the store and the exhibit. There’s a Japanese book library on the 5th floor (a bit hidden, but it’s there). You can’t purchase the books, but it’s a great spot to grab inspiration for future reads on everything from food to architecture. Be ready to copy some ISBN’s down!

We have a reservation for their restaurant in a few weeks so I’ll make sure to post an update with photos and a review ????

Wow... great gallery exquisite art and Japanese decor. A must see.
Almost forgot... Do not forget to get some matcha tea while there... delicious either shot or latte.

Japan House is an incredible space to experience modern Japanese art, culture and food. Well curated merchandise, beautiful exhibit, great food and many special events.
