SUGARFISH by Sushi Nozawa

This is the third location in the Sugarfish chain that I have dined at and they are all nearly perfect. This was my first time in for lunch and I almost prefer it. I always order the trust me option because I do trust Nozawa to provide a meal that is beyond my expectations. And he does. The space is small, but doesn't feel crowded. It almost affords a camaraderie between diners and I enjoy that. We toasted sake with the couple next to us and that is something that doesn't happen a lot at other establishments. The seafood is scrumptious but the seaweed is the best part for me. It is always so fresh and it tears easily when you bite into it, there's nothing chewy about it. The pacing of the trust me courses was perfect. The staff were very friendly and you can tell they work together to make sure everyone has the best experience possible.

Worth the wait, as there's almost always a lineup. The fish quality and prep is excellent, especially for someone who lives in a non coastal city. The warm rice is a game changer. Service is also good and they don't accept tip.

Very good volume sushi. The decor and atmosphere is basic neutral. Once you're seated, things can move very fast. Getting in is the hard part.

Excellent lunch spot in Brentwood, a little pricey... but excellent sushi. Several lunch specials. Busy. Good service, too. I'd park in the lot behind rather than in front or your nerves will be more raw than the fish.
