I love this place. The food is classic Northern Italian food. The wine is amazing too. I really like the fettuccine with truffles and mushrooms. Their soups are always delicious. I once had a shaved fennel salad with grapefruit there that I can still taste. The servers are friendly as well.
Best Italian food on Ventura Blvd, wrapped in a cozy restaurant with first class service.
While good pasta isn’t the toughest thing to make, it surprises me how few good pasta places exist. Cava is one of them. Yes, I ordered pasta with black truffles, a special for the day. Still, a small dish of pasta with truffles and a glass of not-so-great wine set me back nearly $55, so the value proposition is pretty dismal here. Still, I can guarantee you won’t find a pasta remotely as delicious at the nearby Maria’s Italian Kitchen.
The food was pretty good - pizza was large but very greasy. The atmosphere is quaint and the waiters were great. I just don't think it was worth the money. We could have had the same meal for half the price at a number of nearby Italian restaurants. If it were 30% less money, I'd give it 5 stars.
Delicious deli sandwiches. Huge selection of olives, etc. Fun Italian market environment. Completely worth the stop on a road trip, in fact I'll plan for it next time!!
