The bartenders are very polite. The food is really good and they have an open bar. I enjoy the option of an open bar, however; a few years ago, the doorman refused to let me in, "We don't want your business here", were his words. Made me angry and very upset. It was around 9pm. Big, tall black man. He looked me up and down, then stated these words. To be discriminated against by my own is completely offensive. I literally had $200 dollars in my pocket. I watched as he allowed other people to attend the establishment.
Beef and turkey dip sandwiches are delicious! Come before 7 for happy hour prices (M-F). The pickles are spicy and the house mustard is hot (like horseradish). Pretzel and beer cheese sauce is good. Full bar. The whole check is paid at the bar when you order so you can leave when you're done; good if you have somewhere to go after eating.
Solid staple in downtown Los Angeles. The food is awesome and plentiful. We could have easily shared the sandwich but got two kinds and split it. Drinks seemed nice although I don't drink. Coffee was excellent though. Save room for the churro waffle and find a place to nap.
This place is awesome! It's absolutely worth it if you have to wait a bit to find a seat. The drinks and bartenders are top notch. The food is exactly the kind of thing you want especially on a chilly night. Really you want to have this food any kind of night. Definitely worth checking out!
One note - If you're looking up directions on Google they may take you to a place about a block short of the actual location. Just look for the big neon Cole's sign and you'll find it no problem.
I love this place SO much that on our last visit, we ordered 5 pastrami sandwiches and they brought us 5 roast beef sandwiches... I didn't even care!
The manager was apologetic but I told her... Don't worry about it! Everything was fantastic!! I finally got to try something different!!!
If you like cocktails... I highly recommend the Penicillin! Simply FANTASTIC!! A+++++
note: photo is from a previous visit. So delicious!
