Good place to go with family. The only thing is that you need to shake your hands a lot to get attention of the attendant. They are always busy and takes time to stop by in your table.
Food good, abundant and a large variety. The service was great. I love to eat there. Don't do it too often as it is quite expensive.
Great chicken soup in old fashioned diner style. However, it is one pricey place to eat. On the flip side, excellent servers.
Sometimes it gets really cold in southern California. The temperature drops into the fifties. That's almost 10 degrees Centigrade. I was cold, and had suffered a long, tough day that required comfort foods.
Down the Boulevard, is an old-line, New York style deli.
Jerry's Famous Deli offers Jewish and American comfort foods. It's amazing how a new pickle and a large bowl of soup can satisfy one's basic needs.
We were quickly seated. Our server, Cathy, is knowledgeable and kind. I needed kind. As is the custom at Jerry's, pickled vegetables are immediately brought to the table. Salty, crunchy, acidic new green pickles.
Being a vegan, I ordered vegetable soup, and hummus with Turkish salad.
The hot soup came quickly. It is a thick "stand up spoon" porridge containing bite sized potatoes, onions, carrots, corn, broccoli, and cauliflower, in a rich, thick tomato base. It is very comforting.
The Hummus Turkish salad comes with two thick warm pitas and a large dish of hummus. On a separate dish are sliced cucumbers, carrots, and celery. An Israeli salad (chopped tomatoes and onions), and a Turkish salad (chopped red peppers and onions) had my name written all over them.
Cutting the pitas down the middle, I spread the insides of each half with hummus. Next, tablespoons of both salads were added and then, topped off with a cucumber slice. The warm, rich, satisfying sandwiches supplied the comfort my needs had requested. I was renewed. "After all, tomorrow is just another day." Everything is wheelchair accessible. Parking is free in the lot next to the restaurant. There are several speed bumps in the parking lot and a rather steep incline when going into the restaurant.
