The experience you get from curb to seat then back to curb is wonderful. Walking in, the space is very well done. The bar is beautiful. Service is amazing. Food was delicious. We had the olives, the mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, spinach salad, little gem salad, tofu and the salmon. The tofu was my least favorite. The whole thing lacked a bit of flavour but you risk that in ordering tofu. The salmon was quite underdone for my taste but my table mates loved it. Seriously- they didn't stop talking about it for way too long. The spinach salad was a bit overdressed but it was yummy. Overall, we definitely will be back to have some of the same that we ordered and to try other things, for sure!
Great food and amazing service!
We visited during Dine LA and tried their tasting menu (such a steal). The food was great! A bit spicy on the the edges but very well balanced. The whole fish was super fresh and tender, accompanied by salad bursting with flavors. All in all, it was great - will definitely be back to try their famous Duck.
I know it says spiced forward in the description but we couldn't taste the food underneath with the amount of spice used in the dishes. For example, the lamb and beef skewer dish did not taste like it had meat. This is coming from someone who east spicy Thai, Indian, and Vietnamese food all the time.
Makani is a solid choice in Venice Beach. My buddy and I didn't have food here (though it looked good), but we did sit at the round bar in the back and had a great experience. The service was fast, friendly, and non-intrusive. The drinks were a bit pricey for the size, but quality. My caipirinha was spot on and strong! We'd go back!
