Best pizza west of Lincoln and among the best in LA. All pizzas are pretty amazing; I've tried 80% of them. My favorites include the Abbot Kinney, the Venus, the Beef Bresaola, the LAX and the Trolleyway. I hear the Onion & Brie Tart is a winner, too.
Excellent service will bring you back as much as the food will. Juan, in particular, is just an excellent host.
Located in the small strip shopping center just west of the United Oil gas station. Look for a sign with an "S" and an "E."
My wife and I are from Denver, but hit up South End every time we are in LA! We have visited 5 times over the past 3 years. My brother discovered this place when they first opened, and it is always a treat. The owners, Enzo and Mario, are awesome and happy to chat and share some wine. They have a reasonable corkage fee, and some gems on (and off) the wine list! Haven't seen anymore of the '96 Barolos, but don't be afraid to ask!
The place is tiny and seating scarce, especially on a Friday or Saturday night, so we usually call ahead to reserve seating. The lighting is dim, but adds to the atmosphere. On a busy night it is loud, but has a lot of energy.
Service is friendly but can get a bit slow, but it's part of the charm. We come here for the experience and they never rush you out the door.
Food is phenomenal, I've been gluten free for 5 years, and this is by far the best gf pizza I've had. It actually tastes like a great pizza! Everyone else says the gf is nearly as good as the normal pizza. The tart is fantastic and gf as well, beat salad is great... We have never had a bad dish.
I'm getting hungry just thinking about it, can't wait to visit again!
When my girl asked what I wanted for dinner and brought up trying out a new pizza place, I almost jumped out of my shoes with excitement. South End is right down the street from her place, which is nice, however, I think I would have drove 20-30 min to try this place out easy. Brick oven/wood fired pizza is my love at the moment.
The ambience is intimate, the decor is dark and they dim the lights just enough for the candles to work. It's cozy and inviting. The wine list is good, the bartender encouraged us to try as many bottles as we liked. The house wines are very good. Really all I wanted was a neapolitan style margarita, and they were willing to make that or anything else I wanted that was not on the menu. We opted for the Kinney and it was wonderful. The dough and crust are amazing. Quality ingredients that are fresh and you can taste it. 5 stars, highly recommended, especially if you are looking for quality pizza in LA.
The Pizza here was delicious - definitely 'Gourmet' in terms of quality and price. Beers were overpriced though. Staff was friendly & helpful.
Authentic Neapolitan pizzas at the intersection of Abbot Kinney and Washington on the southern edge of Venice in Los Angeles. The food in this small pizza place is just drop dead gorgeous and the wine selection outstanding. The place is quite small, but the atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. The Customer service is excellent, very attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
