Best soul food soup in town. Not going anywhere but here.
This place is a gem for people looking for traditional beef broth soup (including 설렁탕, oxtail soup 꼬리곰탕, beef feet 우족탕) and other protein rich brothes (whole stewed chicken 삼계탕, 북어국 Pollack stew). For even more fleshy protein enrichment without the broth, you can get moist and steamed beef dishes, like the knees and feet. It's truly a nose-to-tail experience, the traditional Korean way.
The ambience is no-frills and no gimmicks. Nice small mom-and-pop restaurant that has been here for 35 years!
For the non-Koreans not familiar with traditional Korean beef broth dishes, these are presented as bland dishes for you the customer to season with salt, red chili pepper, green onions, radish and cabbage kimchi, to your heart's content. The natural flavors should seep thru, with minimal to no artificial or MSG additives.
Unfortunately, one of my foodie friends was expecting something like preseasoned ramen broth. She then expected the servers to perform the seasoning, and then complained how bland the soup was from start to finish. *LOL* But once you acquire the proper taste, these dishes become quite filling and addictive. Good workout food, to boot.
Good simple food. Self-service water.
This is the spot. Best to-go beef bone broth and rice to take back home. Around 12 bucks for soup with meat, rice(I ask for purple rice), kimchi, beet kimchi, and noodles. Da bomb to go in the morning, especially when it's cold!!! If your adventurous, then you can go intestine, tongue, and tripe. I don't hate. Also the bomb.
