Good place to get good BBQ. They have a huge parking lot to handle the large restaurant. This is important at lunch time when the place is full. The reason it's full? They have great BBQ. Lots of variety on the menu. Great wait staff who recognize their repeat customers. Very quick and attentive service. The food, again, is great. The last time I was there I had a sandwich plate that came with a large rib, a big pulled pork sandwich, fries, and iced tea. Their garlic bread is a very popular item because it is so delicious. This is one of my favorite lunch places in this part of the San Fernando Valley. My mouth is watering just thinking about this place.
A decent place for meat-lovers. Dining Tip: Restaurants of all kind are best enjoyed when your expectations are met! So when you come here, expect lower prices, older decor, large portions, and unfussy service. It's a good neighborhood restaurant for a night out. And there you have it!
This place has the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had and that's coming from somebody who has lived everywhere this country has to offer. I can say that although it's got a new school atmosphere compared to the peanut shells all over the ground and the saloon type decor that I remember from before, I can still say that the whole reason that I go to these places and I'm sure you do to is for the F O O D, and that is just as good if not better than I remember it. So to the people looking for great food at a somewhat reasonable price, but well worth the cost in my opinion check this place out... and to the Bear Pit Family thanks again for a wonderful dining experience and keep up the great work as you surely will.
I've been eating Bear Pit for over 50 years. Its smoky goodness is genuine barbecue. You don't even need the sauce. I love it!
Some of the best barbecue in the greater LA area. I always get The Super Bear (ham and brisket sandwich) on garlic toast, and a cup of chili. They have "old fashioned" barbecue sauce at each table, but you can always ask for sweet or spicy sauce on the side.
