Frida Mexican Cuisine - Sherman Oaks

My review and score reflect the service more than the food which most will agree is very good.

We arrived pretty early, around 6 on a Friday night and the place I would say was half full. It's me, my wife and our daughter. The front of house lady showed us to our seat, as we are being seated, she asked if we'd like a highchair for our daughter to which we said yes please. A good 5 minutes had gone by if not closer to 10 before our waitress arrived, she noticed I was holding our daughter in my lap, waiting for the highchair to arrive, so I asked her if we can get a highchair. She went off, we're thinking we'll get that hidden treasure called a highchair but nope, turns out it just isn't our night at Frida's. Another 5 minutes goes by before we got the attention of someone that looked like they may have been a manager and not long after we got that incredibly rare artifact, the highchair.

The rest of our night didn't fare any better and that can all be attributed to our poor service we got from our waitress. Every request we made to her either was never fulfilled or so frustratingly slow. We can see tending to other tables in a much quicker fashion than ours so I think we just lucked out with her. In the end, I asked to see the dessert menu because for the obvious reason that I wanted dessert but it took so long that we just asked for our bill to pay and leave, by then we were pretty fed up with her service.

I didn't want to make a scene and involve the manager to point out our poor service but next time if it happens with a different waiter, for sure it will be mentioned. If the food wasn't good then I wouldn't bother returning and I know my experience isn't the norm here because this isn't what we experienced the last time we were here. Just something to keep in mind when coming here and don't hesitate to get the manager involved if you get this level of service, to me it's unacceptable, I've gotten better service at Denny's, not to say anything bad about Denny's.

Otherwise, the food is worth the return.

The guacamole they offer with the chips is amazing and your server makes it right at your table.. worth the $14 bucks! Excellent service delicious tacos and the cheese enchiladas was ????

Delicious food.... I love the enchiladas, gotta try the chicken... I have been here a couple times and it was the best each time. I wish I could come more often , a great vibe here the waiters are all so nice.

Really mediocre food for the price. The service is friendly, and they are mindful of the small touches that can make the dining experience feel special. For instance, the guacamole is made fresh for you at the table, which is fun to watch and tastes great. My reservation is that the guacamole was the best thing I ate.

I tried this restaurant because the other nearby restaurants had a long wait and Frida was able to seat us right away. Next time, I think I'll just wait.
