LOVE IT. especially good for being in a gym.
Great spot for being inside a gym. Also the gym is amazing too. Great people.
Food is great, healthy with good service and great atmosphere!
Their menu is great, service is good and it is beautiful
I've come to Oliver Cafe several times over the last year, it's down the street from my office and a great lunch spot for my coworkers and I when we feel like splurging on lunch. I typically get the BBQ chicken (BETTER THAN CPK's) pizza but there menu is so rich, so this time I decided to go with something different.
I ordered a black iced tea and the chicken enchilada plate. First off, their iced tea is the best I've had in a REALLY long time! It's fresh and tropical, it takes you away on the first sip! My table actually loved it so much we asked our server what kind of black tea it was hoping she would respond with a brand, but she just said "black tea" so we left it at that (one of the reasons I'm giving 4 stars).
Now, for the chicken enchilada plate. The chicken enchiladas were good, not great, for a few reasons. The enchiladas themselves were filled with shredded chicken, wrapped in a corn tortilla and covered with cheese, enchi sauce and a drizzle of sour cream. They were tasty, not too much sauce and the right amount of cheese. I enjoyed them. Now, if you are an enchilada lover like myself, the other important part of the dish is rice and beans. Rice and beans sounds simple enough, but this is a pairing that for some reason can be hard to get right. Oliver Cafe did not get it right.
Firstly, they served black beans and brown rice. I love black beans, but I wasn't thrilled to see plain brown rice. Now, I understand that Oliver cafe is inside of Equinox gym and the brown rice is likely a result of it being a health conscious restaurant. However, if I wanted to be health conscious I wouldn't have ordered chicken enchiladas, I would have ordered the kale salad. Furthermore, the brown rice could have been jazzed up with tomato sauce, onions, cilantro.. SOMETHING!
I will definitely be going back to Oliver cafe because their black tea and bbq chicken pizza are both delicious.. but I won't be ordering chicken enchiladas. Lucky for me they have an expansive menu which i largely haven't sampled, so there is more to try on my next visit!
