We were greeted by the hosts when we arrived close to 9pm on a Friday and we got seats at the bar. We ordered the tamale trio and the chicken flautas. Both were excellent. The super nice bartender told us about the history of the place, that it's the oldest Mexican restaurant in the U.S. and has been owned by the same family since 1922! She told us the story of how a boy pulled on his mother's apron and she nudged a burrito into the fryer and invented the chimichanga! There's a rich history and homeliness to this institution and I will not return to Tucson without returning to El Charro.
California burrito is really good. The place is really clean. It's small but it's well maintained.
The taco places are very competitive in los Angeles. And having been to several locations, i can say that they are pretty much similar in price and offering. This location allows you to add your own toppings and they allow one free refill of horchata. The taste of the meat is favorful. I really enjoyed my lunch here. However there is no parking lot so only street parking.
I love this little place. Small salsa bar. Good street tacos. Meal deals. Fresh drink fountains. The pickled carrots at the mini-bar are the best.
I was looking for places that served breakfast burritos all day and that looked clean. Well I found it here.
Definitely a little gem among low rated businesses in the immediate area. It’s nice inside with art on display.
The staff is super friendly. You can tell they care about their customers. They even have a suggestion box! That says something.
I’ve been here a couple of times. And will come more often.
