Just tried their chicken katsu curry, tofu katsu curry, and sweet potato katsu curry... and I honestly don’t know which one I enjoyed more. They were all so darn good!

I LOVE Japanese curry and I‘m pretty sure I’ve found my go-to with Don Don. Here’s why:

    FLAVOR:
I’m starting with this because it’s the most important and Don Don’s is on point. It’s obvious that they make their sauce from scratch because there is so much depth of flavor to it. I also really enjoyed the carrots & potatoes in there, because it’s something I haven’t seen done at any of the other curry houses in the area and it made the dish so hearty.

In terms of heat, theirs packed just the right amount but I liked that they give extra hot sauce on the side in case you want to make yours spicier. I ate mine exactly as it came and my taste buds were seriously having a party, lol.

    VARIETY:
In terms of options to choose from, I think Don Don is again head and shoulders above the other places I’ve tried because of how much variety they offer. They have so many different proteins to choose from — like the ones I mentioned (chicken, tofu, sweet potato) as well as impossible katsu!! Whaaat?!?!? Need to try that next!

They also have classic Japanese rice balls and different sandwiches made with 85C milk toast slices... yeah, need to try all of those too!

Overall, I think it’s really cool that Don Don offers so many vegan/vegetarian options because it’s nice to have meatless options that actually taste delicious.

    PORTIONS:
I thought the portions provided were perfect size. You actually get a really good amount of food in one order. The rice to curry to protein & veggies portion was exactly like how I’d want it. I actually had some leftover for my next meal too, so that was awesome.

    SERVICE:
Last but not least is their impeccable service. My curry came with heating instructions to make sure I don’t mess up my eating experience, and it totally paid off. By following the simple instructions, I felt like I was eating their food in a restaurant. So smart of them to do this!

I also got a free bag of Japanese chips in my order, which was so nice and thoughtful. As a non-Japanese, this exposed me to a whole new flavor I had never experienced before and actually made me realize that they offer so many other side dishes and authentic Japanese drinks/snacks to choose from too.

All in all, (if you couldn’t already tell!) I loved my Don Don experience. I can’t wait to try every single thing on their menu because i know it’s going to be so so so so good.

Don Don is yum yum! Try it for yourself. Your tastebuds will be really happy you did :)

This curry was soooo delicious! I've always been a fan of Japanese curry but have only had it from chain restaurants, but Don Don's flavors were so much more developed and tended to it tasted unlike any other generic curry I've had before.

I got the impossible curry and it was a great no-meat option. My boyfriend got the sweet potato curry and given that this was his first experience with Japanese curry I think all other curries will be a disappointment from now on. Everything was perfectly crunchy on the outside, yummy on the inside, and the flavors paired so well with the warm curry sauce and rice. YUM.

With such delicious food, Don Don definitely makes it easy to support this local business! 10/10

Overall the food was delicious. They have vegan options as well and the snacks were great too. The one thing I felt bugged me is the portion size, I felt was a little small specifically the broccoli and edamame sides. However the food was good it’s nice to see a Japanese deli in this area, no doubt going to try their whole menu.
