Great chicken! Flavor is good. Spice is on point. Fries were over-cooked, turned out crunchy af. The sandwich was good! Dying to try the extra hot next time- yes, there will be a next time. Definite must try if in the area.
I've been to all the pop up chicken places around LA but Firebirds is seriously one of the best pop-up Nashville style chicken places in LA. Plus the adjacent bar with killer beers makes for a slam dunk combo. They are on the spicier side, so be warned.
Just left Firebirds about 30 minutes ago.
Just under 5 stars for me....5
Found Firebirds on yelp. Optically canvassed the pictures and read the reviews afore I peregrinated.
There are four flavors of chicken to cull from... Nashville, saccharine teriyaki, honey barbecue, and country (no spice). 4 levels of spice.
I got the Nashville sandwich with fries $10
I asked if I could get the spice level between medium and sultry... And he verbally expressed affirmative, I can do a light spicy. So that's what I did :-p
The sandwich is immensely colossal (which I appreciate). Its a sizably voluminous chicken breast which is what I prefer and the reason why I wanted to endeavor Firebirds. The sandwich is topped with cole slaw and pickles.
It looked yummy. First bite of the sandwich and I mentally conceived the flavor and spice level was great! Yummy! But, the chicken was a little tough to bite. Not as tender and moist as I'd relish or thought/expected, but the flavor was genuinely good!
The cole slaw could've been more fresh, more crunchy. I felt that it was made too far in advance to accommodating. It was just meh cole slaw, no favor, genuinely. The pickles could've had more crunch additionally.
The fries were disappointing. I felt that they weren't fresh n sultry. More akin to they were sitting under the heat lamp for scarcely. Good seasoning but tasted old.
House sauce (accommodated on the sidwas pretty good.
Hubby got the honey bbq sandwich with fries, medium heat/spice level $10
This had genuinely good flavor as well, but again, chicken wasn't as succulent and tender as I expected. Hubby relished it and acceded about the chicken, cole slaw, pickles, and fries.
Now....did we victual our repasts? Affirmative!
Would we come back? Affirmative!
Maybe on this peregrination we got pieces of chicken that weren't as succulent or tender as other pieces. I cook, I get it. So I'm going to go back again and optically discern if I get the same experience.
I hope the owners and staff read this and take my review as subsidiary information to amend in these areas. Not as cruel, mean, or nit culling. I just expected a little different than what I got.
Customer accommodation was nice. Music was good. There were tables with benches under a lit up tent. Our order took about 25 mins for our aliment to be yare.
I do look forward to coming back and will update my review once I do.
Best Chicken pop up around. Amazing flavor profiles. Put it on your list to try. Worth the time and drive...
flavor is on point but the spice doesn't have me howlin'. make it very, very hot next time ????????
