Great food and drinks, super chill vibe with a friendly staff. Would highly recommend!
Great vibe! Great service! Lighting was perfect, employees were so attentive but not overly in your face. Can’t wait to bring my wife. She’s gonna love it!
Tanka Restaurant in Silverlake adjacent Virgil Village is a cool new neighborhood joint with an explosively tasty menu of eclectic items ranging from seafood apps such as Crudo de Scallop (thin sliced scallops in coconut milk kicked up with pepper flakes and mint oil) and Tradito de Sea (market fish with citrus infused different leche de tigre. serrano peppers and chili oil) to Tacos of roast chicken pork, mole alpastor , and herbed potatos all with a wildly succulent slaw on hand rolled tortillas.
I enjoyed myself so much that I returned last night and gobbled down on the Sak Pase Potato (fingerling rainbow potatoes with a spicy slaw and soy aioli), little Big King Sliders (beef patties between brioche buns truffle aioli, all the fixin's and Tanka fries,) and their version of Carbonara using bucatini and little spicy meatballs.
They have a interesting selection of wines and enjoyed the Gulp Hablo Garnacha which was delightful with the Carbonara and Sliders.
Since I was in the first time, they have added more mural art by local artists, and you can feel that both the service and kitchen staff are beginning to get comfortable working in this very interesting and lovely new addition to Virgil Village. I believe it is going to quickly become a neighborhood classic hang.
