Now this is a remarkable find. The Toasted Bun has been around since 1963 in Glendale, which is a part of town I rarely go to. They recently took over the old Denny's at Van Nuys and Sherman Way, and let's just say it's a quantum leap beyond Denny's.
I had a "salmon burger" which was actually a perfectly cooked skinless salmon filet on a brioche bun with tomato, onion, and arugula. (!) The cole slaw on the side was lovely.
My dining companions had a bacon and cheese omelette and their "California burger" (with cole slaw on the burger, interesting choice) respectively. Both were amazed by the quality and value of their meals. I snitched a couple of fries from my boyfriend's plate, and while not remarkable, they were actually made from sliced potatoes rather than extruded mashed potato product.
All in all, a terrific deal on excellent food. And their menu is very broad and deep. We'll be exploring more of it soon.
I got a traditional burger, the bun was absolutely delicious but the rest of it was alright. Fries were crispy and fresh. Waiters were attentive. Might come back.
This place opened at the corner of my house and it is absolutely a delight. My waitress Cynthia is very attentive every time I go in. Such a friendly atmosphere. The food is great also. I recommend this place. I'm there every weekend ????
Absolutely Love This Fairly New Diner!
Their menu is beyond variety. There's everything for everyone. It isn't your typical diner in regards to food presentation/plating. It's just nicer and more elegant(for lack of a better word). Their coffee is superb! It's very strong but good and rich in flavor. The restaurant's layout flows well and they always allow you to select where you'd like to sit. The one thing that needs to be pointed out is(why I gave it a 4 star), that it is crucial to keep all personnel's with long hair, tied up. When handling food it is very unsanitary to play with hair and then go back to touching food, etc.. Faithfully the owners/ heads of this diner will read this and make the necessary adjustments to make a great and well rounded diner experience for their new and ongoing customers.
They have good attentive service in a clean environment with great food. Their prices are in line with the area. I will plan to return should I be nearby. I found their meatloaf to be quite good.
