Good ol Chico's. I've been going here for about 40 years seriously. It's good stuff. A little impersonal but that's the new world .
I ordered a Pastrami Pizza, here. I think, I think, I think they need a newer recipe or newer cooks preparing the food. If they were to hire chefs, that would be great. I like the place but, my 3star review stands and speaks for me...
To go please... My father would bring me here as a child and we were always so fascinated with this place. Unfortunately over the years it has worn down and is in need of a makeup but the food remains the same its pepperoni is shredded and when it comes out of the oven you get a crunch on both sides of your mouth that changes the way you look at pizza. The food is amazing but the establishment needs some work.
I was stunned that Chico's is still standing! Wow. Beginning in 1967 (web site says it was opened in 1976, but there was a previous Chico's owner apparently) my family had a ritual on every Friday night of watching the Flintstone's, and The Wild Wild West, and then pepperoni & sausage pizza at Chico's, for many, many years. Piano and banjo entertainment on some nights. My gawd, the signage and the pizza box even looks the same as I remember it! The interior layout appears the same, too.
Amazing nostalgia for me. I was 15 then, now I'm 67 and live in Boston. Next time I'm in L.A. I will swing by for a pie and a mug 'a root beer, and relive my youth at Chico's. I'll probably glass-over as I remember family members who are no longer among the living. Such powerful memories remain there.
