Duck House Restaurant

Peking duck was really good. Other dishes were fine. Nice service. The place is a bit packed though

As the name implies, this restaurant is suppose to be famous for it's roast duck. On the table, they'll have the sauce ready for you. The flavor of the duck may be different than what you're use to; instead a roast duck that's flavorful and loaded with seasoning, the duck they serve here is pretty much tasteless. You get thin "spring roll" wraps with scallions and onions and sauce to wrap it. But, how the Chef can cleanly separate the skin from the meat really showcase his knife skills. I think to enjoy this way of eating requires an open mind and the expectation that this will be different.

Their standard dish, by far, were the best we've had. Very flavorful, piping hot and good comfort food.

As it was getting late, the restaurant went into "cleaning mode" and the restrooms were a bit in disarray. Couple of the plates and utensils we had to send back for another cleaning and the lady got upset when we ordered a bottle of the House Merlot and we didn't like it. She said we should've asked for a taste. We apologized and asked to try the House Cabernet which she replied there' no taste available.. huh? So I guess there's only a tasting for the House Merlot but not their House Cabernet...

So we go to this place that looks like a double-wide trailer. I would not have gone on my own. Parking is dicey, and the area is very busy. Once seated, the staff was attentive, food was very well prepared, and the duck was the third best I have ever had. The best was not in the United States. The soup was good, the scallops and shrimp were very good. Ambiance was mediocre at best. Call one hour ahead to order duck.

All plates were substantial, care of food preparation was consistent, all dishes arrived piping hot and stayed hot. Wonderful classy environment, but just casual enough to feel at ease. Service was smiling and attentive.

Cannot recommend enough.
