A pretty restaurant, i was surprised when i walked in. Usually you only see these kind of nice interior vibe in Asia cities or downtown highend.
The server is nice, they come check often.
The food is good , like the mapo tofu.
Spicy but the meats and sauce are really tasty.Other dish are good too.
We 4 people ordered 4 dishes and got pretty full, only like around 100$ which i think its pretty good now a day. Esp thse kind of decor.

Szechuan Mountain House brings an exquisite blend of traditional Szechuan flavors to the West Coast, offering a captivating dining experience. The ambiance, characterized by elegant decor and a warm atmosphere, complements the spicy and aromatic dishes. Standout menu items include the spicy boiled fish and the mapo tofu, both lauded for their authentic taste and robust seasoning. This restaurant promises not only a meal but a delightful culinary journey through Szechuan cuisine.

We know how good this brand is in New York, with high expectations stepping in, and deeply disappointed out.
The decor is typically Szechuan countryside restaurant style, with all those materials representing a culture of down-to-earth, woods, stone, bamboo, and water ponds. It's a nice vibe and shows the classic Szechuan architecture’s connection with nature. It's part of the Taoism aesthetic in commercial practice.
The service is fine, it’s our first time there and get no service when we try to order food, accidently I ordered three deep-fried foods, out of four dishes. Dishes come up slowly, but the servant helps to push the speed. That's nice!
The food, eh! The free pickle is appropriate, and the tea is kind of nice. But, deep-fried tofu is just so common tofu, and salty egg yolk corn is so oily, and salty, I feel this dish insults the original Szechuan food which does not value oil overcovered Veg’s original flavor in fried food. deep-fried eel is a disaster, and can not taste out eel’s flavor! Over starched, Also oily and salty! The peppercorn blackfish is the only dish with freshness and balanced flavor. The portion is very conservative at such a price. I guess the best dish is the white rice, well sized, texture and temperature! So just get the rice, nothing would be wrong! 🤪
Well, it is still a fresh visual culinary experience in South California. Try it, if you don’t know much about Szechuan food!

The famous 川山甲 in NYC is available in LA! Opened in May 2023, the restaurant is so well decorated, making this an immersive dining experience in a bamboo forest. Pork belly on the shelf is such a fun presentation and shows off the chef’s cutting skill - cucumbers well balanced the fatty pork belly. Frogs are the same as we had in NYC. We were pleasantly surprised with 魔芋 in the dish. The chicken pieces in the House special spicy chicken are too small imo so that it’s a test for the customers chopsticks skill. Hot pot green peppercorn fish was amazing - strong peppercorn flavor, tender cat fish, the noodles and rice cakes in the dish were a highlight. 冰粉 was a great closure to the hot and spicy dinner, though I wouldn’t mind if there were less toppings. Will return to try other dishes!

What a lovely experience! Beautiful restaurant getaway serving inspired Sichuan dishes with creative flair, straight from New York. Opened during the summer and has wowed plenty of people since, my friends and I included! Perfect for a splurge or a big dinner celebration. Recommend you make a reservation especially if you have a larger party. The wait can get long! Parking is usually chaotic so budget extra time for that.

Every dish we had was exceptional, and reasonably priced once we split the bill. The swing pork belly was unique, as well as the corn dish—haven’t had the latter anywhere else. Get ready for some bold flavors and inviting textures. Beware that spicy here is SPICY - we got the rabbit dish “less” spicy and we almost couldn’t finish it still. The staff is very attentive and knowledgeable, I’m sure whatever you’re eyeing on the menu is going to be good. Definitely check it out if you get the chance, it’s an experience you don’t want to miss.
