My wife and I already celebrated Valentine's day because our schedules are rather hectic. It happened to work out that we had a free evening together on the actual day, and a friend had just recommend Kashiwa. We went, it was an event evening for Valentine's day and they had a special fixed menu. Reservations only. We asked about it as we walked in. After some deliberation with the other servers and chefs, they agreed. (Mind you, we weren't expecting to eat out, I was in soiled work clothes).
Service was exceptional. The menu was amazing. Every piece went with the next wonderfully. The sashimi melted in your mouth. The meal was capped off with two scoops of ice cream, jello, and a small cup of roasted green tea. A well rounded, well thought out, and delicious dinner. We left with satisfied bellies and taste buds. Thank you!

This is my favorite place for traditional sushi. What surprised me this time was how busy they were. It was Friday, at noon, and all the tables were full. There were 2 groups waiting ahead of us, so it took 20 minutes to be seated. Next time, I'll get the crew in earlier.

That said, the food and experience was excellent. Service starts with hot hand towels, and the miso soup and hot tea are good, but the star is the sushi. The fish was sparkling fresh, and portioned and cut the way I like. Of course it is - because the chef is a fussy old guy whose been doing this for decades. If you was rolls filled with cream cheese and sprinkled with pistachios, then go somewhere less Japanese.

Great food, just try to avoid rush hour, otherwise you're going to be waiting for a while!
