Bao Kee Cafe in Southern El Monte is a family owned restaurant that serves Taishan cuisine ( a variation of Cantonese food). Their herbal soups are fantastic and popular with patrons.

Although the menu is small, each dish has its own uniqueness. we ordered a shredded meat fried rice noodle and pig’s ear in chili sauce when we visited the restaurant recently. The noodle was tasty and full of wok hei but it could have added a bit more seasoning. For a group of more than 4, they have set meals with good price starting at $50. the restaurant is small and it only has 5 tables , so it's best to call ahead to make a reservation or be prepared to wait for a table during peak hours. The interior of the restaurant is simple and cozy, with a few decorations that give it a homely feel.

In terms of the food, the shredded meat fried rice noodle is a must-try dish that combines the savory flavors of the meat with the satisfying texture of the noodles. The pig's ear in chili sauce is a bold and spicy dish that is perfect for those who like to try new and exciting flavors. The herbal soups are also a standout item on the menu, offering a warm and comforting option that's perfect for colder days.

Overall, Bao Kee Cafe is a great option for those looking for authentic Taishan cuisine in the Southern El Monte area. With its friendly service, delicious food, and reasonable prices, it's easy to see why it's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.

Cantonese comfort food. Taste of home. True family recipes. My go-to restaurant when I crave soups. Coconut double steamed chicken soup, Pig trotter soup with soybeans are my favorites.

This place is a hidden gem! I truly recommend their monk fruit (Luo Han Guo) jelly. Last time I had a sore throat and felt much better after eating that. This shows that it is made of real ingredients! Will definitely continue to support this family run business.

The raised beef noodle soup is good and the milk tea is better than expected. Friendly owners made you feel at home...
