Tesse Restaurant

My partner & I came here once before and the service and food was amazing. The ambiance WAS very classy and you feel good sitting inside. For the price point... it was an enjoyable, relaxing experience.

However, we decided to come back to Tesse for New Year's Eve and was highly disappointed. They overbooked for the night. For a classy restaurant... it felt like yard house. The ambiance seemed extremely frantic and staff seemed to be scrambling around. The whole restaurant was super loud and rowdy. A server poured shots into a person's mouth. It felt low-class. The DJ was not so good either. He made a bunch of mistakes AND played ratchet music that would be fit for a club. The music was wayyyy too loud.

Now this would be fine with me if our bill for 2 people didn't come out to $800! This is unacceptable for a fancy restaurant to be so ratchet yet charge $800 for this. Yes, the food was great. Not complaining. Portion sizes were amazing. The atmosphere and service was really bad. We wanted to take off our wet jackets since it was cold and rainy outside but they cranked up the AC even though it was freezing outside. I wish I could say I want to come back.

This restaurant is so cute! It has a nice bar and mainly indoor seating. Beautifully designed restaurant, great for dates and social gatherings. The waiters and workers are very friendly and attentive. The drinks are beautifully made and very tasty. I love how all their dishes include some type of vegetation and infused with fruits. I would totally recommend getting the cauliflower, very zesty. I love how the salmon comes with a beet hummus. I really loved the Hamachi crudo, very fresh and well made. The steak was well made and the duck fries are delicious. Overall great experience and would totally go back for more!

On our first night in LA we tripped across this restaurant on Sunset Boulevard. Looking at the menu and the prices we were genuinely surprised at the quality of the food and the wine list.

The service was a typically up-beat friendly and knowledgable experience. The food was excellent quality and the atmosphere was lovely. Our host offered great advice on the wine.

Anyways, a good restaurant to check out that has a nice ambiance and atmosphere. Parking is valet for about $10, but you might be able to find some street parking. Service can feel a bit hit or miss with it being pushy at times and delayed at other moments.

For appetizers, the Charred Cauliflower was really good. Well-dressed with a fresh green sauce. Good to share! The Bread with Normandy Butter was good and simple. Also good to share.

For our entrées, we got the Short Ribs and Duck. The Short Ribs came first and there was quite a delay (about 8 minutes) before the Duck came out. We hoped that the entrees would have come closer together, but unfortunately they did not. Taste wise though, the Short Ribs was really good. The Duck was fine, but could have had crisper skin and was on the sweeter side.

Overall, aside from the service hiccup, it was still pretty good.
