Tortilla was homemade which was great! Had the adobada and asada tacos. Tasted delicious guacamole, onion, cilantro, lime but it ended there. The meat was not the hero unfortunately, kind of on the bland side. I tried the meat separately and came to the same conclusion. Hopefully it's better on our next visit.

I reviewed the Whittier Pop up and it’s the same Mesquite grill meats.Stay with Asada,Adobada, Cactus, Tacos,TJ authentic. PAY CASHIER-Then use receipt to your Taquero , then you get your food. Sunday-Outside vendors have Wonderful Cafe de Olla coffee-, 2nucks. What a deal! Limited parking but customers rotate quickly.

The good - carne asada and adobadabwere pretty tasty, although a lot of fat/gristle on the asada takes away from the experience quite a bit. At $2 a taco, a pretty good deal compared to a few other Tijuana style taco places. Watermelon Agua was also pretty good.

The great - and also free, frijoles de la olla is there by the salsa for free. Nice and spicy too. I just drank the broth and loved it.

The not so good - birria was a bit plain. So were the tortillas. Hand made yes, tasty, not so much.

The bad - Salsas were not spicy at all and bland. That’s a shame, because a great salsa can make up for a lot. The guacamole was bland too and thats what supposed to set these tacos apart. There was also a line out the door due to the hype and not sure it’s worth the wait.

Will I go back? Maybe when the lines are shorter just to see if the quality of the food will get better when it’s not so crazy busy. Also at $2 a taco, it’s worth a another try, especially because the frijoles de la olla!

    The best taqueria in Whittier,
Tender meat, delicious and tasty. The tacos “con todo”
Salsa, guacamole, cebolla and cilantro are bomb ????
Carnes adobada, asada, pollo, longaniza, birria and nopales also champiñones.
Wonderful customer service, festive ambience and fair prices.
