HopMonk Tavern Novato

I've been here probably 5 times and it's a good place to go when you're in vintage oaks or want to choose from a lot of beer options. Decent service though our waiter seemed to have quite a lot of tables. That wasn't his fault, yet I still felt like I had to wait a really long time before anyone took my drink order (like 20 minutes.) Plus I was waiting for friends who were well over 30 minutes late, so maybe they didn't get me water or ask me if I wanted anything to drink because they thought I was waiting? Overpriced drinks, though that's also normal for cocktails, and the food is probably pretty normally priced for Marin but I feel like it's not all that special. Still, they have a big menu, tons of beer options, and a full bar. This place is popular and if you have kids it's nice because they have an outdoor space that they can run around in even though they don't have any play stuff for kids. It's family-friendly and they often have live music. It's conveniently located if you need to do shopping of any sort before or after your visit.

I'm obsessed with the Greek salad (I add shrimp). It seems simple but it's the best one around for sure. I also love the extensive drink menu. There's something to please every mood and every palate. And the best feature is the indoorsy outdoor seating with heating! It's a great place to host events or see live music but I also love hanging here on date night or girls' night out.

My fish & chips were delicious. However my husband had the calamari and the pieces were really small...the rest if the group loved their food. We will return ????

Best music location in Novato. Music most nights of the week, separate Beer Garden covered in winter weather outside, nice separate stage inside. They have open mic on Wednesdays which is a lot of fun. Very good bar food, nice atmosphere!

The customer service and the environment is great but the food is not anything special. The Calamari was taste like oil! Not enough spices and very fatty
