Monterey's Fish House

This place is the BEST! I have been here a number of times and it never disappoints. Last week I ordered the fried clams and sat at the bar. service was fast and friendly. Clams were the best I have ever had anywhere on the planet! about the size of a chicken thigh and so tender I cut them with a fork. Cant wait until I am visiting Monterey again.

Highly recommended, they serve amazing food and superb hospitality. Portion are big so we order for sharing and they took the initiative to split the portion for us before serving.
Fried calamari was delicious, so is the grill fish.

My wife and I split the Halibut entree. They brought two plates with the shared servings of veggies and pasta. A nice touch. We shared a dinner salad, which they brought on two plates. Again, much appreciated. The Halibut was excellent; lightly topped with a touch of pesto. Delicious. The veggies were well cooked, still with some body, and flavored just right.The pasta was a super side dish. Each split plate had its own meal ready to be enjoyed. Even if you have a reservation at 5:00 get there before and wait in line. Doors open at precisely 5 pm.

Great place, seriously! Fish is super good, great service and lovely ambience. Just one thing... We i queued 1 hour and a half (although I booked a table), but sure this restaurant deserves it. Prices are a bit higher then standard but it is largely justified.

It is a very small place where you are definitely better off making reservations. It gets crowded and noisy even on a Tuesday night at 6 when we were there. The food is pretty good. The menu is fairly limited so you will not have a ton of choices if that's what you're after. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
