Food is quite imaginative, perhaps to a fault. Every dish sports unusual ingredient combinations. Last time there we had a whipped burrata with heirloom tomatoes, fabulous. This time we had a pork rib appetizer which was tender but way too salty. I find their food often produces major hits and misses. Finally, the way they structure the menu, it can be very expensive to get a complete meal.

Update after Valentines' fixed price dinner (third visit): Attentive service. Appetizer (salad) was very good. Wife had Rockfish , I had Pork. Pork was very dry and flavorless. They gladly replaced it with the fish which was good (its accompanying rice was very good). Dessert was good but petite.

I'm lowering my rating to 3 stars because I've had too many main course misses; however, their appetisers and salads are usually excellent. The staff and environment are really great.

The food really is phenomenal.
The service is the same.
We plan on being loyal and regular customers! It helps being local and close.

Outstanding execution of elevated seasonal California comfort foods, featuring fine local ingredients. (We met the local mushroom forager, who was delivering incredible porcini!) Great service and lively atmosphere in picturesque downtown Pacific Grove. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful dinner there with my wife. Perfectly cooked meat. Could use more seating (we ate our meal at the bar) and the only thing you get with your meal is water. Even the bread is considered an appetizer.

Really good food. Great menu. Great service. We had the game hen special and the duck breast. Excellent. Rivaled any meal we had in France. Good wine list too.
