Super cute tiki bar in the Disneyland hotel. I waited a while to finally come here and it was worth it. We found a table easily for a Sunday afternoon. It was great for people watching and I would recommend sitting at the bar. Drinks can and will make the room rain and cause a volcano to erupt. Decently priced (about $15 and up.. depends if you get a souvenir cup) and great tasting drinks (not too sweet). Later hop on the monorail back to Disneyland. It's is what I expected from a Disney bar. I did miss the birds from the enchanted tiki room.
This bar is really great in terms of quality and looks, but the service and price were nothing to write home about-- the former being surprising and the latter was expected.
Imagine if the Tiki Room, dole whip stand, and Tropical hideaway all escaped the park and had an alcoholic baby in downtown Disney... and you're left with Trader Sam's. My friend and I stopped by on a Monday night, and the bar wasn't crowded at all so we found seating rather easily. The bartenders weren't so much busy as they were chatty with the other guests. I'd go as far to say as they viewed us as "not-worthy" and didn't attend to us for at least 10 minutes. Of course, we were familiarizing ourselves with the place and looking through the menu, but come on.. not even a quick greeting?
Service was terrible, even at basic bar standards.
The bartender finally laid down the napkins after we sat there aimlessly for longer than I can remember. At that point he didn't even engage with us. It took another 5 minutes for him to take our order, and we got two of the "Piranha Pool" drinks. Keep in mind, their drink menu has NADA if you want to know how much these suckers run for. The Piranha drink (without the souvenir cup which they try to upsell you for) goes about $15 drink with tip. That's.... I'm... not surprised. It's Disney. The drink itself I thought was pretty good and the serving was decent. Fruity, creamy, and smooth. The actual alcohol was definitely strong in contrast to some reviews I've read.
The special drinks are kind of cool and some of them when you order involve the bartenders doing some live entertainment with a gong and bell. I guess you're paying for the experience rather than the actual drinks-- something I forgot about when checking into this Disneyland bar.
So this place isn’t bad. It’s really adorable. Though the service and drinks could be better. You have to seat yourself— which wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t already terribly crowded inside. It’s expensive, but that’s to be expected.
It is so popular place which nice to visit at least once. If you ever get a chance to check this place out while in Los Angeles it's worth your time. Limited small plates food menu. Great drinks. Friendly bartenders.
I want to say it's overpriced, but in all reality it's what one should expect to pay within Disneyland so it's actually fair. Service can be incredibly slow so if you're in a hurry do not stop here. It's all open seating (up to the ropes on the patio). So keep that in mind during prime hours (after 6pm). At night the tiki torches give the outside space a really cool ambiance. Food menu is limited, but this is more of a sit, drink and chill sort of place.
