Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant

The price is a little high for the quality of food that you get. The fried chicken is really good, crispy outside and juicy inside. But the chicken tenders for 4 different orders all came out burnt and hard. The biscuits were excellant, the jam delicious and the portions were good. The mashed potatoes were good but nothing special. The price is a little high for the less than well cooked and less than tasty food unless you really like fried chicken and want some really good fried chicken. The fried chicken dinner is the only plate I think that is worth getting here.

The restaurant was pretty empty at 12:30, on a Friday. All the back of the house empty, and we had to wait more than 1/2 h for them to put together few tables for a group of 18.
The menu- very simple, with pretty much same items categorized differently. The "famous " chicken...same as grocery stores fried chicken, mashed potatoes...extremely sweet and buttery (margarine?). So, nothing spectacular. We enjoy our company. That was our main reason to go there. An outing for CAVA San Diego school.

Excellent service. The place is enormous yet has a cozy, family dinner vibe. Definitely go for the fried chicken. The pie is phenomenal; love the crust. Not crazy flaky or crumbly, but has a nice chew to it. Perfect.

There's not much variety to the menu. I'm gluten sensitive, so... for me, Fried Chicken is kinda out... So I got the broiled Chicken, my husband got the fried.... Cool, I'm eating healthy... So our dinner came (for the same price, $21.99) he got 1/2 a fried chicken that's 4 pieces of fried chicken... I got a small breast piece... Did I mention for the same price... It was tasty... But I was disappointed in the portion size. The service was excellent and they said it would be a 25 min wait and it was. So I was happy with that. Also, the bathrooms were clean. I like a clean bathroom.

Best Fried Chicken Dinner Ever!!! This is too much for one person. I recommend sharing and ordering an extra soup, salad, or piece of chicken. Bring your own cup and take away some Boysenberry Punch since they don't have to go cups. We waited 20 minutes on a very busy night which I consider fast. The restaurant is very large with tables everywhere so the only limitation is the number of staff on the floor. If you haven't been to the restaurant in years then you'll be surprised at how great the remodel looks including a spacious bar. I recommend the Boysenberry Beer! It's different and only available at Knott's. The restaurant is outside the Park so you don't need admission and parking is easy. There is a surface parking lot under the Ghost Rider Roller Coaster and the restaurant will validate. Great family restaurant or a unique date place. Beware the restaurant is a little noisy due to the wood floors and open spaces but you can still carry on a conversation.
