Gudetama Cafe

If you're a fan of Sanrio this is the place for you coz there are only 2 cafes in the world,one in Japan and here in L.A.
If it's your first time here,don't be shocked my the long line which takes an hour or so.Staff are nice and friendly at the door as they usher your group inside. I've never been in their japan cafe but the japanese guests I met in line said LA branch is bigger. The menu is very limited to breakfast selection and very pricey. But the japan vibes make up for it.Basically,you only pay for the experience to be inside the cafe. However,everything in L.A. is pricey nowadays. If you have kids,they will enjoy it more than you do.

I love gudetama and this cafe is so cute. I went during the week and the wait wasn't that long it was about 2 hours. The food was super yummy! The drinks were also good but when I went they didn't have boba straws to get the pearls out. The sparkling mango drink lacked flavor but the smoothie was super yummy. The wait for the food was also long. However, the food was super good even though it's simple.

Today was the second day of their Grand Opening and luckily for me, I kinda woke up early and got there at 9:35 am. The cafe opened at ten am and we were able to order our food at noon. Half an hour later, we had our food. I spent way more than I expected (for two, $130).

The staff was really great. While in line, they kept us entertained, hand out stickers, did some jokes, hand out some other stuff for those who had answered some questions correctly. Once inside, Amy, one of the workers, was really sweet. She made sure that I got a clean merchandise because I didn't know I grabbed a displayed plush toy. The cashier remembered my name (only because I kept on buying stuff).

Despite having a long line and having to wait, I enjoyed it.

I highly recommend this place than the Hello Kitty Cafe in Irvine, CA.

Food was delicious, and so on theme. Well worth the wait. Staff was very helpful and fun. The management worked so hard in the middle of the night to make their customers happy on opening day. No one could have anticipated how fiercely the public loves their Sanrio characters! We will be back over and over.
