I had lunch here the other day. It was quite busy at 2:30 p.m. - I didn't have to wait in line, but I did have to sit on a bar stool facing a wall. The food was good, but not great. The fallafel (spelling?) was deep-fat fried to perfection. It was crunchy on the outside, but not oily on the inside. The restroom and floors were clean. This place is located in a small outdoor mall just south of South Coast Plaza.
First time with my wife. Wanted to check out what the hype was all about. Giving a 3 star mainly because it wasnt anything out of the ordinary. It's good but I wouldn't wait in a long line. There's a Persian market near us, and we would probably just eat their if we had a choice. Otherwise try it.
I know that sometimes this place has lines, but there wasn't one when I went this time! These guys are efficient and organized so I was served very quickly. A huge combo platter was only $8. FWIW I am required to turn in receipts to my company -- these guys said they don't give receipts, cash only. They told me to take a picture of the menu board and turn that in.
Watch out for the spicy sauce! I thought I could tolerate spicy but be careful what you ask for.
The food is delicious, no wonder they have a line. I recommend the bowl and with the bread!!
The only con is finding a parking spot but it is worth the wait.
Not bad at all. No wait either. This is kind of Americanized Arab food. I have eaten street meat from some carts in NY, but I am not sure if it was the real Halal Guys cart or some other guys cart. This was similar to what I remember but drier. The rice has an orange color but kind of dry. The mayo sauce was OK. The red sauce is actually hot, and I can tolerate really hot stuff. This was spicy. It tastes like Cholula mixed with ghost chili sauce. Pretty good for a quick lunch or casual dinner.
