Mokkoji Shabu Shabu

expensive, not Japanese at all. fake shabu shabu for sure.

First time trying shabu shabu. While somewhat expensive for lunch, it was a great experience and food was very fresh and tasty.

We've gone to the one in Irvine a few times now so when the Costa Mesa one opened up it was natural to go.

They had only just opened and we were the first ones in but they got super packed within twenty minutes.

We shared the lamb and flat iron meat and both got the spicy miso soup. The hot drops even with just one drop was super spicy for me.

The meat was tender and the vegetables were very fresh. I would say that this is one of the best Shabu places that we frequent. There's something about their sliced meat that others can't top.

The service was superb and everyone in the restaurant was so nice and friendly.

Very good food, good portions and a super nice staff. The wait for this place is kind of insane though. They have a yelp waitlist which helps but Yelps estimate of when you'll be seated is waaaaayyy off like an hour off.

Best shabu in Costa Mesa! I love that they have Yelp waitlist so you can get in line from home. My favorite things to order are the toro belly and the prime rib with spicy miso broth.
