Chef Danielle of Giana Bakery and Provisions catered our 110-person wedding, and we could not believe how fresh, creative, and delicious everything turned out.
Chef Danielle was able to pull off a wide variety of exceptional dishes that met a wide range of guest's needs, and all got rave reviews. Many guests came up to us afterward asking if there was a full kitchen at the venue because they could not believe that catered food could be so perfectly executed.
During the cocktail hour, Chef Danielle put together an elaborate 10-foot long “grazing table” with cheeses, fruits, and other delicious finger foods. It was a huge hit with guests and was really a piece of art. All of the servers and bartenders from the Giana team were professional and warm - constantly moving around the room offering pours of wine and making sure everyone was taken care of. Best of all, the pricing was in line with the pricing we received for much more generic catering companies. If you have the opportunity to have Chef Danielle’s team cater your wedding, don’t pass it up!
We came here for brunch on a Saturday and it was packed, but thankfully there was not a wait at the time. Five stars for our server Sandra, who was friendly and checked in on us. Her intention was to make sure we loved our food and that we would come back, which I super appreciated. Our favorite dish was hands down the Nicoise (grilled salmon with a salad). Second favorite was the Eggs Pomodoro with fresh toasted bread on the side. I wasn’t a fan of the Aglio e Olio pasta. Their sea salt chocolate chip cookie was also tasty. Ambiance was airy, busy, but not too crowded in a cafe setting. It reminded me a bit of Italy, but with way more space and friendlier staff. Would come back when in the Dana Point area again!
I love this little bistro style cafe. Beautiful collection of art, lively music, excellent sociability with locals, convenient location. Nice selection of salads, fresh made pastas, meat dishes, and wines. I have not try the bread or pastries yet, but confident we have a new winner in town!
A fan of Maison, I tried Giana's last night and I wasn't disappointed! Not a big pasta eater due to dietary restrictions, I tried the beef which turned out to be a hanger steak, one of my favorite cuts! Served on a bed of Arugula with capers and roasted baby potatoes it was delicious, as was the sun dried tomatoes and cheese appetizer. Topped off with a coffee gel and whipped cream dessert with Strawberries, I was very satisfied.
Try it now because it's going to be busy after people start to know it's there!
Giana Bakery is the new (Italian) sister restaurant to Chef Danielle’s (French) Maison Cafe. Giana has all of the warmth of the Maison with a distinctly Italian aesthetic. It’s an environment that you will want to linger in, soaking up all of the warmth that Danielle’s restaurants are known for. As with the Maison, you can either sit and dine at Giana, or just pick up some fresh baked pastries and coffee and be on your way. The bakery itself is adjacent to the dining room, and you can watch the bakers work their magic on the delectable breads and treats that are displayed at the counter. Giana is a wonderful addition to Dana Point’s lantern neighborhood and is sure to become a regular dining spot for locals! Congrats to Chef Danielle and her team!
