    Disappointed!

Came here due to their high ratings but food and service were both mediocre at best. Menu is also small and only accessible by a QR code. My husband and I got their spicy miso ramen - noodles lacked texture, broth wasn't rich, chashu was fatty and chewy, and they don't let you customize how spicy you want your broth like most places.

Cute name but no bueno. Their plaza is also weird - there's no access from State College Blvd so you have to enter through the 'back' on Walnut Ave.

    For the price, go elsewhere.

Stoked MOGU is now in the hood! We need more Ramen options. This joint might take the cake. Super fresh ingredients, quick service and magnificent flavors. I had to try the broth ramen for my first time, the wife got the broth-less. We both loved it. 🤌Definitely coming back. Check it out!

My first time trying mazemen and I can't help but compare it to tsukemen, and unfortunately, I think tsukemen is better by a mile. The mazemen sauce is moderately spicy, and once you get pass the spiciness, that's where the disappointment begins. The "fish umami" is not umami enough, which makes the dish feels like it's missing sodium. Ultimately, it feels like the spiciness is there to mask the lack of depth in the flavor. Maybe the tare to spice proportion is off?

Noodle was cooked well, with a real good al dente texture. The appetizer chicken karaage was also good. The mazemen is worth a try, but I would rather have tsukemen.

the ramen was so warm and had rich flavor! what i like about this place is that i know the servers will give us water even when we weren’t half way through our cup. plus if you get the mazemen, towards the end of your meal the serves will give you a bit of rice.

Great staff, great food, great service! Manager was so friendly and easy-going and spoke fluent Japanese. Mazemen was so flavorful, appetizers were so delicious and authentic. Nankotsu and Takowasa were giveaways that this place was an authentic Japanese restaurant, both delicious. Nankotsu had a very nice kick of black pepper that left me wanting more. The OIMESHI concept for mazemen was something that surprised me but makes total sense and I loved it. 10/10 will come again and maybe I'll be able to visit their locations in west LA and Costa Mesa too.
