Caló Kitchen + Tequila

Cute, trendy place but OC needs more places like it because it was beyond packed. The place is very cute but I can’t recommend going here with a group larger than maybe 6 people. We went here with 8 and they said they could accommodate us and the wait would be about an hour. We knew this and had arrived earlier than the rest of our party. We ordered drinks and appetizers at the bar which were delicious. Unfortunately it ended up being over an hour and a half wait and we were all very hungry by then. The wait staff is nice but they seem overworked with this place being so crowded. Will probably return because there aren’t too many cool places like it in the area, but will only come back with a smaller group. Overall the food was good but they could use a little more training on knowledge of the menu and food allergies, especially gluten free and Celiac information.

Service was a little scattered. Word to the wise, you can just bypass the line and self seat at the bar. With that said, it was worth the minor chaos at the beginning. The food is delicious!! Cocktails were also good, decent michelada. Ceviche is perfection on a hot day. Beans, chips, and salsa? So yummy! Overall some of the good is a little rich, but nevertheless tastes good.

The food was excellent as was the service. Our server Andrew was one of the best, most personable servers I have ever had. Had a party of 8 which the place is not really designed for, but they handled it perfectly. The menu has a lot of interesting choices, including a lot of Mexican seafood. The atmosphere inside is fun and the bar was lively. Many people sitting at the bar eating. The back side is open to outdoors so it is a nice environment, but just a bit loud since it is near the street. Overall very much enjoyed the place.

Amazing food, ambiance, and service! Couldn't have asked for anything better! The food was immaculate and so delicious. They are so great about special requests and the restaurant/ food is so aesthetically pleasing! The staff brought out amazing churros and ice cream for my birthday without me mentioning it and were so kind and wonderful about! I got the pineapple chicken tacos which were absolutely delicious! We get seated rather quickly for a Wednesday night. Wouldn't change a thing! Highly recommend and will be returning!
