If you want a bit of French Gourmet cooking on Balboa Island in Newport Beach this is an excellent venue. I had the lamb and it was delicious. Excellent selection of wines I recommend one of their Rhone wines.
I've been to Basilic several times now, and the experience and food has been outstanding on every occasion. The food is on a Swiss/French theme, and uniformly excellent, with obviously a lot of care placed into meal design and preparation. The owner is the primary waitstaff, so he makes sure all the details are covered. A young assistant handles minor tasks, and she is very kind, helpful, and attentive. Reservations, while not required, are highly recommended, as Basilic seats only about 20 people, and quickly fills each night. Don't be surprised if, at the time you make reservations, you are informed that they must limit your seating to about two hours. A restaurant this small simply has to do so, and two hours is just about right for a complete experience here. I really love this place. Highly recommended.
I was skeptical at first already knowing Suisse food in Europe. I was surprised the food was not Americanized. Very good appetizers and the dinner dishes. The fish and the meat are good. Wine selection is unique and light with dry white and red wines. Desserts are traditional and good.
Great nice date spot. Food and service are excellent. We go for very special occasions. The lamb is always good
My wife took me here for my birthday. Service was outstanding and we even got a tables definitely visit by the chef. You can tell that everyone here wants you to have a great meal. The ambiance is nice though the place is quite small. Overall the food was good. I had the lamb and my wife had the filet. Both were well done and tasty.
