I lived on the Peninsula for years and never knew this place served a great breakfast at reasonable prices. I love that they open early too. Yum!

Nice place but a little bit of a rude crowd. I got some good beers and everyone kept shoving me to squeeze by. Spilled some good beer. Someone even muttered that I was fat when they shoved by. Nice place though

I’ve never eaten at Malarky’s, so I can only review it for its nightlife.

If you’re looking for a good night out without the aggressive hook-up culture of some of the other Newport bars, this is the place to be. Their prices for drinks are a little steep, but that’s Newport. Malarky’s is basically just a solid choice for a good evening. Nothing particularly special, but it maintains a good level of decent music, decent drinks, and decently interesting people to meet. My only major problem with the place, and the reason I’m giving it 4 stars rather than 5, is that the employees can be a bit apathetic when it comes to the safety of their patrons. I visited some months back and had a girl basically pass out on my lap. The guy she had been talking to was acting in a rather suspicious manner and fled the scene quickly. My friend and I immediately got out of the bar and made sure that she got home. The staff at Malarky’s saw us trying to help her, and definitely had seen her fall as they checked her vitals, but upon determining that she did not need an ambulance, they did not offer much help or ask any questions. I do think that they would have stepped in had the problem been more serious, but there should have been an effort to ensure that she was going to be okay or to help us out.

The other, much more minor complaint, is that other than serving Guinness I don’t see exactly how it’s an Irish bar.

That being said, it’s still a great place to spend a night, probably the best on the Peninsula in my opinion.

Best breakfast ever. I have followed the chef, Alberto, over the last 25 years. Amazing breakfasts. Disappointed that S.O.S has dropped from the menu. I had the pancake combo this time. Great as always. Always a little chilly, clammy inside, I wear a sweatshirt. Love this place.

I really liked this bar. Tons of TVs to watch games, nice layout, and the food was pretty good. Not a lot of places have corned beef and cabbage all the time. The corned beef tacos were really good as well. They have taco Thursday instead of taco Tues. Lots of parking for the area as well.
