Great restaurant! Food was delicious, the churro is a MUST!! Best churro of my life. So fluffy but crisp on the outside. Chicken and steak were so moist and flavorful and portion was HUGE. Service was delightful.
We celebrated My Mom's birthday at El Matatan. I had heard about their authentic approach to Latin food, and they definitely did not disappoint. We started off with Shrimp Aguachile, their fresh approach to guacamole and Yucca fries. The whole family gave them a 10 star rating for the appetizers. Each family member marveled over the fresh quality of their dish. The brisket tacos, Tostados, were a huge hit and topic. The Branzino fish was excellent, Pollo A la Brasa tender and juicy. The Tomahawk steak was arguably the best Tomahawk steak we had ever eaten. Oscar and his team have a passion for food, fresh ingredients, and making sure his diners have a great experience. You cannot go wrong at El Matatan. The family gave them 10 stars for every aspect. Too bad we can only give 5 stars. We will be back.
The food was beautifully presented and very delicious! They added shrimp to my Cesar salad. It wasn't on the menu, but they were happy to accommodate me for a Friday during lent. It is a small, intimate restaurant that is designed with streamlines and modern accents.
Had the pleasure of enjoying El Matatan tonight for the first time.
Ambiance: Elegant, modern look with a very cool/fun vibe.
Drinks: We tried several cocktails (La Diabla, La Roma, Margarita, Michelada), all of which were exceptional, and the michelada is one of the best I've ever had! It's definitely a place you would want to try for a unique and delicious drink!
Food: We had the guacamole, which had a nice spicy kick, and was served with fresh tostadas. Mushroom empanadas, which the mushroom lovers enjoyed. Pollo a la Brasa- a generous half chicken, super juicy and flavorful, and served with fried plantains, and delicious fried baby potatoes (probably our favorite dish!) Saudero tacos- which were delicious, served on freshly made blue corn tortillas with a smoky, spicy salsa macha. Lastly, an off menu ribeye finished on a Japanese style Yakitori grill and served with esquites and grilled veggies. The steak was well seasoned and cooked to a nice medium-rare and the esquites and fresh veggies were also delicious.
Service: We were well attended to, with fantastic, friendly service. They have a great staff, all of whom were warm and welcoming.
We will certainly be back soon!
I recently visited this new concept restaurant in Orange for a weekday lunch, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience overall. The minimalist vibe of the place is refreshing, and the ample parking in the back made it very convenient. The option for both indoor and outdoor seating was a plus, and the staff were not only friendly but also well-versed in the menu. Now, let's talk about the star of the show-the food. I can't recommend the tostada and the empanada enough. Both dishes were not only savory but also generously portioned, leaving me fully satisfied. The ambiance was great, adding to the entire experience, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit. If you're in the mood for amazing food and drinks in a welcoming setting, this place is a must-try!
