Gar Woods Grill & Pier

Five star view all day. Food was exceptional and tasty. Went with a ribeye sandwich and the meat quality was decent. Nice tender and flavorful. The bread was not as soft as I’d prefer but was good just the same. Beer list is so-so and could use a little enhancement with more options. Older spot with long standing customer tradition.

We had our wedding at Gar Woods this past week and it couldn’t have been any more perfect. Maia and Amy made the wedding planning processes easy, fun and stress-free. Gar Woods and their staff took care of setting up all of our decorations at the ceremony and reception sites as well as packing them up for us at the end of the night. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and running smoothly. Both Amy and Maia stayed at the reception and helped me keep the event moving and on point.

The outside ceremony venue was gorgeous. Gar Woods had their staff clean the grass and wedding site to make it immaculate. Their efforts made for fantastic photos! They also set up all of our outside decorations so that our friends and family could enjoy the day free of having to worry about anything other than enjoying themselves (minus the arch, which is to be expected).

The food was amazing and I am still getting compliments on how beautiful and tasty everything was! I loved the fact that we chose three main dishes and the guests picked what they wanted at the wedding, just like you would do at a restaurant. It made it easier for me to not have to keep track of what people ordered and it allowed the guests to not be tied down to something they picked months in advance.

We had a fantastic time at Gar Woods and would 110% recommend them to anyone looking for a gorgeous, beach front, stress-free wedding on Lake Tahoe. Thank you Gar Woods, Amy and Maia for making us feel like we were the only wedding you were ever going to host there.

The view is outstanding as the photo shows.
Great selection of beers and drinks.
I had the fish tacos which came with a nice salsa. Avocado and all the fixin's were in the two tacos.
Staff is knowledgeable about the menu and unfailingly upbeat.
Restaurant is conveniently close to public beach and dock.
There is a lakeside trail which can be accessed to the right of the dock. The trail meanders behind the homes located at the edge of the lake and separates those homes from their docks.

We had a really good experience on a busy Sunday. We had a group of 10 and the waiter did an outstanding job with our drinks and food order. I had the steamed clams which were some of the best I’ve ever had anywhere. I also had the lobster deviled eggs, which I thought were outstanding, but some of the other people in our party thought were maybe a bit too salty. The bloody Mary was fully loaded and excellent but don’t miss the trader VICS my Thai, the house drink.

This place is a must go to if you have the financial means. It is not the cheapest place you'll ever find but the building, the deck, and the pier offer some of the best views in north Tahoe. The views equal the culinary expertise. The Scallops were some of the most tender and delicious I've ever had. One of the best meals I have in a years!
