The Original Mels Diner

Very nice. Food is good. They have reduced their fries portions for kids by a whole lot so we end up having to get two portions. Which seems unfair to the consumers. This a sit down place and you will have to tip. So I think they could at least give your kids a better portion of fries.

Great atmosphere and great service. My kids love eating at Mel's and this location is great. It is hardly ever crowded and it offers a great selection of items on the menu. They are open late and the kids love the decor. When the family is in the mood for diner fare, this is always our first choice.

Staff was very friendly and professional. Check out was quick and easy. Waitress visited my table at perfect times. Food was great but overpriced. With 5 dollar tip a burger came out to 20 dollars and change. Odd smell as soon as you walk in but you get use to it. Overall a good experience. Great music selection if I may add.

They are the best, super clean, great place for comfort food, tacos, drinks, and other foods, great menu choices. Ambience is a home town feel. Everyone/the staff is always very welcoming and pleasant.

I would recommend trying this place out if you happen to be traveling through Amador County.

Mel's is a great little eatery. Cute 50's ambiance. Food is typical diner-type burgers, grilled cheese, salads. We go frequently because it's next to a theater and we get quick, great service. Ask for server, Kimmie. She's sweet!
