Solano's

Pricey, small portions and somewhat bland food. I would give 2.5 stars but bumped it to 3 for good service

In a word, Outstanding! I rarely post reviews but it's a pleasure when you can shout one out. There were 6 of us for dinner this Valentine's evening. We were welcomed into the restaurant with smiles and a sense of humor from a cheerful staff and immediately seated at our table. The drinks were great and the bread, served just after being seated, warm and fresh. One of the first things I noticed was that even though the restaurant was very busy we were able to converse without having to compete with the ambient sound. A pleasant change from the typical noisy restaurant atmosphere that I am experiencing more and more these days. Several of us had a starter or a salad and all made a point to share their pleasure. My butter lettuce salad was superb. The entrees were simply delicious and elegantly presented. I selected an entree from the optional Valentine's Day menu. A Dungeness crab stuffed sole which was exquisito. The bananas Foster and vanilla ice cream we shared for dessert was the perfect ending to a delightful dining experience. The service was impeccable with one small exception. The coffee ordered with dessert was brought to the table just before dessert was already consumed. Having said that, our server whose name unfortunately escapes me for which I apologize, was warm and attentive with a brilliant smile. Needless to say, our first experience at Solano's was simply outstanding.

Wonderful restaurant in old town. Consistently good quality food and excellent service. Delicious house made margaritas???? It's a favorite for our family.

I went to Solano's in La Quinta for lunch today and I was pleasantly surprised. I got the chef's fish tacos which were fresh and flavorful. I ran into the chef/owner while I was there and he told me about his focus on organic and locally grown ingredients. You could see by the way he talks he really has a passion for food and the way he describes his dinner menu I will definitely be coming back to check it out.
