I ordered the family meal, with chicken tenders, and when I got to the window she told me I had to wait for the spicy tenders; however I did not order spicy tenders. She gave me the regular tenders and forgot my biscuits. The fries were cold like they usually are, but other than that the food was good but expensive. I ordered a 12 piece and 1 extra side and it was 38 dollars and some change.
This is a really frequent go-to spot for my son & I. I love their chicken & almost all of the side dishes (always a hard choice, when I get a meal that only includes one side). I can never finish my individual meal in one sitting, but my favorites are the mild chicken tenders with a biscuit & either the red beans with rice, the "dirty rice" (forget the actual name of it) or the mac n cheese. They've added some phenomenal dipping sauces to their variety that you are sure to find quite pleasing to your taste buds. The family meals are really great too & the price are decent, if you're looking for something to eat on a minimal budget.
My personal favorite fast-food chicken restaurant. Priced similar to KFC & Churches. I rate the food much better though. I could eat 1 meal there all 7 days of the week, yet not get tired of the food. My wallet just gave me a dirty look...
One of the best chicken chain restaurants. The staff was cheerful and welcoming. The location was clean compared to the Church's Chicken and KFC'S of the Sacramento area. To my surprise there were high chairs available for people like my 8 month daughter (no she didn't eat anything from the restaurant for this concern parents).
We ordered some of the spicy recipe chicken, coleslaw, beans/rice and fries. In the meal a biscuit and a soft drink were also included. The biscuit was soft, buttery and warm. The coleslaw was crunchy, moist and with a hint of sweetness. The beans and rice had a taste that my taste buds didn't agree with but I think it I'm bias to Spanish style beans and rice. My wife thought they were good.
Now for the most important part the chicken. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Not sure if they marinade it before frying but it was loaded with flavour.
Overall I had a great experience at Popeye's, one I'll be repeating again.
