Virgin Sturgeon

What a hidden local spot. Service was great, food was very enjoyable. Sitting and looking out at the river while dining was so relaxing.

An enjoyable lunch spot on the American River.

Virgin Sturgeon is a great spot to meet for a casual lunch on the river. They do have a full bar and you can sit in there or in the regular dining area. There is a very small outdoor seating spot, but the regular indoor seats have a clear view of the water through the windows.

There are many food options including salads, sandwiches, and the ability to split items into half-sandwich / soup / salad combos.

All the food tastes fresh and the service is quick and efficient.

Watch for the busy times - getting there before noon or just at noon and you shouldn't have a problem getting a table, but it will start to fill up around 12:15 to 12:30pm.

There's comfortable seating for groups of two or more, or at single stools at the bar.

An important thing to note is that the restaurant is down at the water line which means that it raises and lowers with the level of the river. When the river is especially low the ramp to walk to the restaurant gets very steep. There are hand-rails, but if you have mobility issues you will need to be cautious during the times of year when the waterline is very low.

My preferred place for delicious seafood. Great place to relax, people watch, eat good food or all the above. Bring your hunger - portions are filling. I see why this place has a lot of positive reviews.

Always great. Good spread on offer. Old time good service and great prices for what it is. Note that this place is floating on the Sacramento River so it's fun to just watch the boat traffic. If you go, take note of the ramp to the shore is an adapted airport jetway. Some customers are walking in from the adjacent floating docs.
