Happy New Year Fong Family and Lee Family. Janet Fong, Wayne Otani, Daniel Connoly, memory of Mommy Toy Lee Fong, joined by Patti and Joe, great fun.
I have been frequenting the Rice Bowl Restaurant for over 30 years. I was never disappointed with any of their offerings, whether I chose something of the menu or ordered what what was suggested to me when, now and then, I was undecided and asked for "help". The staff always has been friendly and attentive, service is good, and the food is served quickly!
Throughout the years I probably tried just about every dish from the extensive menu, both, as take-out and dine-in.
My favorite dish is, nothing fancy or exotic, Mongolian Beef and an order of BBQ pork. Over the years, extensive travels, both in and out of State, allowed me to visit an untold number of Chinese Restaurants. Only one time did I like "my" Mongolian Beef better, than at this restaurant, and it was not in California!
My meal here on Thursday, March 15, 2019, Mongolian Beef, will be the last for a long time, if not forever, since I'm moving. I will truly miss coming here for my "usual"!
Came here for an new year event. Dishes are pretty traditional. Flavors are fair.
Deluxe rice bowl dinner for 2 is a great deal at $16. Food is good and service was good too.
I have been ordering takeout from here for 40 years. I have watched this restaurant go from a small family restaurant to alarge facility hosting dim sum and special events. The service has changed from excellent, very bad, excellent, and know (past 2 years) hit and miss. The quality of food has changed throughout the years. Currently it depends on who is cooking your food. I ask for food with less soy sauce and salt, sometimes they listen on the phone and the cook gets it right. The amount of food varies too. Last September we had excellent Peking spareribs with meat on the bones. October we were given nothing but bones no meat. Yet the orange chicken is always good. I will still take my chance and continue eating there and telling them what I want and how I want it cooked. I will make sure they understand what I am saying on the phone and check my order before leaving the restaurant.
