    I was looking for an authentic Mexican spot, but it was Monday night, and all the recommended places were closed. Caballo Blanco had some good reviews, so I gave it a try. There were four tables of patrons who were very regular (on a first name basis with the hostess) & I can see why. The food is not great. It's really just OK, but they get a 4 to acknowledge carnitas that were both crispy on the outside & moist on the inside.
    It's a very laid-back place and they have very fair prices. The wait staff are pleasant and attentive. There is one big problem & that's the atmosphere. This restaurant is 50+ years old and it's way overdue for a paint job & a very good scrub - dirt visible in too many spots. I asked for my margarita straight up but got one on the rocks - it turned out not to be a problem because it was delicious - I got a second one.
