This place is a hidden gem! It’s got the best items from other restaurants all in one location! I’ve been here twice and each time I’m pleasantly surprised by the portions. Right off the bat, the chicken sandwich is HUGE and absolutely tasty. The biggest sandwich I have literally ever seen! We got it in mild spice, but it was still packing a punch without the bread, slaw, and pickle I’d be quick to grabbing some water. The mild tendies are in the same boat, absolutely giant and I did in fact need water. Their signature sauce is similar to that of Cane’s but it’s got its own goodness that pairs perfectly with the chicken and fries. Soy garlic wings remind me of bonchon, but the sauce is sweeter and the wings are larger, I definitely like it way better. Spicy soy garlic chicken nuggets (sorry forgot to take a pic of them) are slightly different in taste from the regular soy garlic, it wasn’t spicy in my opinion but it was just as delicious! Everything from the portions, the music, take out box design, and the graphics in the restaurant are outstanding. 15/10 will absolutely recommend. Excited to try the loaded fries next!
This place is great! The chicken is flavorful, no matter the spice level, which is hard to do as it gets spicier. My dad actually enjoyed the flavor of the angry hot, even despite the 10 minutes of eating ice cubes to cool down afterwards. Definitely better than Dave's and we look forward to coming back to try some things we didn't get to the first time. Plus, the size of the chicken/amount is a great deal. The pickles were unexpectedly salty (in a good way), they helped cool your mouth - wish I ordered more. The cashier was cool, she was very nice and even labeled all my items for me! I genuinely cannot wait to come back!
This place is very small with very limited seating. About 14 seats total, maybe 15. Staff was friendly. You can order via kiosk or walk up to the cashier. When we arrived it was standing room only. Although we got to order in a decent about of time. Once we ordered it took about 20 Min to get our food. The waffle fries were slightly cold. The rest of the food was tasty and the spice level did not disappoint.
I've been wanting to try this place since it opened and I'm glad I did.
The food was great. I ordered a six piece wing combo half medium fry rub and half spicy garlic with waffle fries and a side of macaroni and cheese. The chicken had a great flavor overall. The spice level was medium, but I could have gone a little higher. The thing I liked about Hangry Joe's is that you can actually taste the seasoning on the chicken as opposed to just plain ghost pepper. The chicken was actually enjoyable. The spicy garlic was crispy and sticky.
The waffle fries were seasoned just right. The macaroni and cheese has just enough dry rub to give it a nice kick.
Overall the restaurant is pretty small with limited seating. The walls are all painted with murals. There's a kiosk when you first enter that can help with ordering.
I recommend trying this place. They have a host of options.
This is definitely one of my tops favorite spots for a hot chicken sandwhich in Sacramento! The service was fast despite them being so busy so that nice and they also have a kiosk inside to also order at, that helped with the line. The inside doesn't have many seats so I'd recommend grabbing your food and eating at the park across the street. I was really looking forward to having bubble tea with my meal but sadly they were all out and this was around 3pm. The chicken itself has a great spice level! The medium was hotter than Dave's chicken medium which i was pleased with. It was a nice spice though that made you want to keep eating and the chicken was so fresh and juicy that easily fell apart. I just wish the chicken itself was crispier on the outside. The waffle fries were also nicely seasoned and crispy. They forgot my ranch, but the spicy soy was delicious. Also the funnel cakes fries are a must try! Delicious fried crispy little sticks with a side of maple syrup. They tasted like long round crispy French toast sticks.
