Let me start by saying I LOVE the Huicho's located on W. Colton Blvd. in Redlands. It is quick, amazingly tasty Mexican fare that is affordable and delicious.
I was so excited to have a location opening up closer to my home and so gave it a try... unfortunately, only to be left underwhelmed.
The service was very, very friendly, but slow. The food was tasty, but painfully overpriced ($17 for the plate you see below). And the ambiance was exactly as it had been with the previous Cuca's location, drab and lifeless.
As no big 'grand opening' event was advertised (where I saw it) there is the chance that my experience was still in the 'working out the kinks' stage, but I fear that if not, this establishment has taken a page from the previous Cuca's and will see the same fate. I'm hopeful the new owners will get everything worked out and have this place firing on all cylinder's soon.
Pro-tip for families: A cheese quesadilla is $8. A kid's quesadilla (THE SAME SIZE, possibly with slightly less cheese?) is $8.50 and comes with rice and beans.
This space is worth a try, especially if you like the Huicho's in Redlands, but I'm hopeful they'll adjust their menu so they aren't far-and-away more expensive than the other local Mexican sit-down eateries in the area.
Food is decent, but overpriced - $12 for a one item combo. Chips and salsa are tasty. Staff is friendly.
Came here because my friend and I love the Huicho’s in Redlands. Those who’ve been in the area know this location used to be a cuca’s. Glad there’s an authentic Mexican restaurant to replace one that left. Came here and tried the chimichanga and chicken mole, was impressed with the food and friendly service. The chips and salsa were especially good. Will probably be my go to spot for Mexican now.
