Ember & Rye

Things change. I really do not like to say anything that is not positive, because the restaurant business is a tough one and the last few years have been challenging. We ate at Ember & Rye about 6 months ago and really enjoyed it. It was pricey but the food was good and the setting is beautiful and the service was great. This time around,3 members of our group had the filet and each one was not cooked as ordered. And not missing by a little, it was ordering rare to medium rare and getting well done. Very disappointing. Especially for what is essentially a fancy steak place. Service was still ok and the view from the patio is still priceless. The food, however, is a topic for another time.

I went for my birthday and I had a great night. There signature drink is delicious and it looks pretty. I had the non expensive steak, baby carrots, and asparagus side dish. I recommend both of the side dishes and steak. This is a perfect place for a date night or celebrations. It's also a gorgeous place. Highly recommend!!!
Side note: my friend didn't like the pasta dish and they took it off her bill. Awesome place.

I have been following Richard's story and since Top Chef. It's funny how you can become so enthralled watching someone cook on TV and just know what they're making is delicious.
We live in Connecticut where there are zero Blais establishments, so when we learned of the plans for Ember and Rye we knew we had to make a point to get out to California to eat there. So that is exactly what we did. Our entire vacation revolved around multiple E&R reservations in an effort to try as many dishes as possible and it did not disappoint. The most notable surprise for me was the Cauliflower Pot Roast which may very well be one of the best things I've ever eaten.
Great atmosphere. EXCELLENT and unique signature drinks. Quality ingredients.
Traveling across the country for a meal was worth it. So worth it, in fact that were about to do it again.

Nice atmosphere. We were lucky enough to eat outside on a75° day. Beautiful. The beet salad with goat cheese is a great appitizer. We were part of a 13 people business group so I can't comment on the pricing. Good service. Very enjoyable meal.
